T-Mobile Has Really Ticked Off BlackBerry Fans And CEO

T-Mobile's marketing department upset everyone firmly in BlackBerry's corner, including its very vocal fans and the man tasked with letting people other than those fans care about the struggling smartphone vendor once again. What did T-Mobile do to upset so many people? The company told them all to buy an iPhone.
Over the weekend, T-Mobile sent a message to some BlackBerry customers saying that an iPhone 5s is a great offer for BlackBerry customers willing to switch to an iPhone for $0 down. The message encouraged them to "Get the tools to do more," which upset many BlackBerry customers. So many people complained that T-Mobile CEO John Legere tweeted, "BlackBerry users, I'm hearing you loud and clear. Let me work with the team and get back with you." He has since sent multiple tweets saying T-Mobile enjoys providing customers choices and will continue to support those who are loyal to the network.
BlackBerry CEO John Chen has also entered the conversation by issuing his own statement about the minor controversy. Chen said he was "outraged" by T-Mobile actions and accused the company of being disloyal to BlackBerry. One choice section from Chen's blog post states:
"I want to thank our loyal customers for your commitment to BlackBerry. By expressing your outrage directly to T-Mobile ?through tweets, calls and comments in the media and on blog posts, you sent a powerful message that T-Mobile could not ignore. Your partnership with our brand is appreciated by all of us at BlackBerry, and draws a sharp contrast with the behavior of our longtime business partner."
Chen expresses disappointment in T-Mobile both for its decision to target BlackBerry customers and encourage them to switch to another platform. He goes on to urge T-Mobile to work with BlackBerry to please its customers and promises to make a special offer specifically for those customers the two companies share. T-Mobile has not contacted BlackBerry since the offending promotion was released, according to Chen, but Legere has publicly apologized to customers after receiving several complaints on Twitter.
